I received my PhD in April, 2016, from the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University, under the supervision of Dr. Susan Courtney* and Dr. Veit Stuphorn. I am interested in studying how our brains make decisions, and allow us to inhibit and/or initiate an action in different situations and contexts. Dissertation thesis: The neural basis of cognitive control of movement inhibition.
I was born in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province in Eastern China, roughly 470 km (~290miles) west of Shanghai. Much of my childhood and teenage life was spent in Hefei and Shanghai. I moved to the United States in 2005, and have since lived in New York City, Palo Alto, Berkeley, and now in Baltimore.
*Dr. Steven Yantis, my previous co-advisor, tragically passed away prematurely in June, 2014; following this, Dr. Susan Courtney became my Ph.D. co-advisor.
